China declares three child policy | Major policy shift

3 child policy in china

China has declared that now they are introducing the Three Child Policy and it is a major policy shift. In 2016, they have announced that they will allow up to 2 children rather than their policy of only one child per family introduced in 1979. This clearly implies that how large China is concerned about its population crisis.

The possible problems that China can see in the future is that they will not be able to get numbers for recruitment for their military, workforce, etc. They will be forced to import workforce from other countries just like how the USA does now.

China has announced that it will allow couples to have up to three children after census data showed a steep decline in birth rates. BBC has covered this article on this drastic policy change here.

Reasons for a Policy Shift in China

In 1979, when China introduced the one-child policy, if any family fails to comply, then the couple used to get fined. Then as expected, families focused only on conceiving Boychild. On a large scale, couples got aborted their female babies. This took a big hit on their sex ratio and their female to men ratio decreased drastically.

This caused a huge shortage of brides and most of the men in crores are trying to import brides from other countries like Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan, etc. The reports say that they are about 30 million eligible men in China that are unmarried now because of a lack of brides and this number is only going to rise. This is why there are many articles recently on smuggling females from nearby countries to China and these women are introduced to men in China as brides.

There are many women who were trafficked from Pakistan to China as brides and now Pakistan is now trying to move all Hindu/Christian women to China as brides. This news was reported by USA media The Tribune on 31st May 2021 and you can read it here - Hindu, Christian women marketed by Pak as concubines.

If this situation continues in China, it is speculated that by 2050, only 10% of the male population will be unmarried even after attaining the age of 50. Now after the urbanization in China, couples have started to conceive even fewer babies.

A lot of families started to live in urban cities in China, their lifestyle has changed and they cannot afford more than one child. The living style also has changed drastically. Culture has transformed completely. Now because of this, common people do not see the reason why they should conceive more than one baby child and increase their family expenses, responsibilities.

Solutions to implement Policy successfully in China

Probably like Russia, Germany, and France have given money to their citizens to conceive more children, China also needs to do the same so that Chinese couples can afford the expenses.

China has even tested humans to create biologically enhanced super soldiers. Yes, just like in the movie Captain America. Maybe not on that big scale but they have still tried to enhance their soldiers' strength by biological and genetic methods. You can read the full article about this here - China has done human testing to create biologically enhanced super soldiers. These are the methods China is trying in case they do not succeed in increasing their population.

In the future, there is a great scope of China announcing that they do not put any restrictions on the number of children in a family and couples can conceive as many children as they seem fit.
