Differences between delta and delta plus variant

In this blog, I will explain to you the differences between covid's delta and delta plus variants and also why the USA calls the delta variant as Nepal variant.

The one and only solution to prevent the spread of Covid in India is to get at least 40-50% population vaccinated. Now, India has only vaccinated 3.6% of its population properly. The first dose is slightly more i.e. 16% population vaccinated in India. You can read the full article about vaccination here on The Hindu.

Difference between Delta and Delta Plus

There is a major threat coming to the world countries including India, USA, etc. which is Delta and Delta Plus variants. Sars-Cov 2 is the virus that has been come out into the world from China and then it has mutated multiple times which is quite normal for a virus. Each of the mutations has been administered and named after the country it has taken place but WHO has removed the countries name to it so as not to spoil any country's image.

The mutations are Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta.

Delta is found to be mutated in India. Delta plus is a further mutation of the Delta variant. But Delta plus variant is not mutated in India but in Nepal. This is the real reason why in the UK reports it is depicted as Nepal Variant. Read full details here in The Indian Express.

The two are differentiated by the K417N mutation in spike protein which Delta Plus variants have. This makes the plus variant extremely dangerous.

Which vaccines are effective against Covid-19 new variants

Scientists say that the new variant defeats the vaccines, antibodies, and infection immunity. Indeed, there is no vaccine that saves you one hundred percent. Efficiency is mentioned for every vaccine so that people will realize the vaccine is not 100 percent safe. Scientists fear that the Delta plus variant might turn very resilient against the vaccines or infection immunity.

Delta has rapidly spread in the United Kingdom and the Delta variant is responsible for 99 percent of cases. The same situation is found in the USA too but not yet in India.

Please do comment if you think the plus variant will reach India too in the coming days. Stay updated with the latest current affairs by reading here
