What movie details did you notice only after watching more than once?
The series with Benedict cumberbatch in the Sherlock (TV Series) is quite popular and the show is absolutely brilliant for the right minds.
There is a brilliant episode called The Sherlock’s – The abominable bride. I am gonna describe a concept used by the Sherlock in this episode to solve a case which will later lead us to the main observation.
Context of the episode:
So, Jim Moriarty is dead. But in the next episodes, glimpses of acts of Jim are seen and this new has shook Sherlock and Watson as Sherlock himself has witnessed Jim’s death. This case would be extremely difficult for even sherlock so he kind of figures out that there was a similar case that has happened ages back and if sherlock can figure that out then Jim’s mystery will be out too.
The abominable bride mind palace story:
So sherlock will use his The Mind Palace to relive the abominable bride era to solve the case. Cutting to the story, a bride soon to be married dies and the marriage gets stopped. After few days, the same bride appears on a road and kills a person and every one on the road witnesses the same and surprised at what has happened. Every one believes that the bride has come back as a ghost and took her revenge and the case gets closed.
Deduction of Sherlock:
Sherlock cracks the case that the bride has actually did not die at first. She convinced every one that she has died and later after few days she went ahead and killed who she wants to kill letting every one think that she came back as a ghost. After her kill, then she commits suicide and let her team put her body in the hospital for police and others to reconfirm her death.
So, Sherlock explains that few people will not leave any chance to get things done in their way even if they have to sacrifice their own life. Revenge for some people takes a higher priority than their own life. For complete story, please read here.
Observations from the above story:
The above concept is not something new. A very famous movie was actually made on the very same concept – Gone Girl. Yes, still can’t relate? Let me help!
Amy Dunne in the movie makes every one believe that she has been kidnapped in the beginning and then gives out clues to police making them suspect that her husband must have killed her for various reasons.
Her ultimate idea is to commit suicide in the end and make police catch her body so that they arrest her husband for murder and adultery and finally sentencing death penalty to Nick Dunne (Ben Afflick).
Not just in this movie, this very concept has been implemented in many movies. For all of you out there, this is a food for thought. Leave a comment where you think this concept has been used.
